Buzz Lightyear!

I have been absent in the blogosphere for a while but now I'm back in business (pun intended!). I recently did this Buzz Lightyear painting on commission and I thought it was going to be a quick job but nooo...it wasn't hard exactly but a lot more labor intensive than I thought. Oh well! It's going to be a gift for a 4 year old boy and I hope he loves it!

A different expecience!

Recently I had the pleasure to work with the owner of http://www.kikisol.com/

She needed a few designs for the upcoming season. Among others she needed me to do hand drawn versions of different wood grains. It was a very different experience. Pretty challenging actually. I'm looking forward to a future of new and exciting assignments!

My boring old suitcase...

I recently learned about a technique known as "decoupage". Don't be fooled by the fancy name, because it pretty much means "cut and paste". When I was looking around for ideas I was amazed at how many possibilities are out there, and I was immediately inspired to try it!!

Here is my first project - this is of course the "BEFORE" picture. Stand by for a picture of the finished version!!

What I would like to say is "look at this boring old suitcase and this lame old guidebook to Paris (I was hauling both of those items with me TO Paris and also from Paris).

Home decor.

We recently moved into a new house and I'm working on decorating it as best I can. My favorite designer brand EVER, is Marimekko. Unfortunately their stuff is too expensive but luckily there are ways of getting around that...:).

Rapunsel Rapunsel!

I took some time off over the holidays, but now business is back in full swing! I forgot how much I enjoy painting!!

This painting was for one of Vera's classmates who just turned 6. She really like it :). I'¨m always worried that the parents will judge me if the paitings are not perfect, but what really matters is if the kids like it! Sooo it's aaaaall about the children!!

I'm currently working on some pieces for my own house and yesterday I ordered a nice frame for a really big piece. It was pretty expensiv...OUTCH! I could have bought a finished picture for cheaper but that's not as fun :).

Custom-Britto-order

Here is my latest custom order. My client wanted a painting of her daughter holding their cat, and she wanted it to be very colorful and in Britto-style. Hopefully it will make it to Virginia before xmas!

This is a little boy from a classic old Swedish kids' book. I grew up reading the books about him, and now my children are enjoying the very same books and stories!
